Acer Laptop Touchpad Not Working [Solved]

Many Acer laptop users are having issues with their touchpad. Their touchpad isn’t responding properly or has become totally unresponsive.

Method 1: Re-enable your touchpad

Your laptop touchpad may have been accidentally disabled. You need to re-enable your touchpad to be able to use it.

To re-enable your touchpad:

On your laptop keyboard, press the Fn + F2 or Fn + F7 keys (the function key with a touchpad icon on it) at the same time.

Then check to see if you’re able to use your touchpad. If this doesn’t work for you, please move on.

Method 2: Reinstall the touchpad driver

When your Acer touchpad isn’t working, you can try to see if reinstalling its driver helps. To do so:

1. On your keyboard, press the Windows key and the R key at the same time, then type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter.
   
2. On the menu bar, click View and select Show hidden devices from the pop-up menu.
   
3. Double-click to expand the Mice and other pointing devices category, then right-click your touchpad device (it could be named HID-compliant mouse like shown on this screenshot) and select Uninstall device.
   
4. Click Uninstall to confirm.
   
5. If you’re not sure which HID-compliant mouse is the touchpad device, you can repeat the above to uninstall all HID-compliant mouse devices you have here.
6. Restart your computer so Windows can reinstall the drivers for you automatically.

Try your Acer touchpad again to see if it works. If it still refuses to work, please move on.

Method 3: Update your touchpad driver

4. After updating, restart your computer to take effect.

Method 4: Restore your BIOS or UEFI to default

For some Acer laptops, the touchpad settings are in BIOS or UEFI, and you can try to restore such settings to default if your touchpad isn’t working.
